Ambulance Paramedics, Doctors, and other healthcare professionals are trained to look for genuine MedicAlert® emblems.
The customised engraved emblem provides primary medical conditions/allergies or “special needs”. Emergency First Responders read the emblem and begin appropriate treatment/action immediately - avoiding unnecessary testing and eliminating guesswork.
The MedicAlert® name and logo are registered trademarks, recognised by healthcare professionals worldwide.
Every emblem is engraved with an individual registration number to ensure confidentiality and identification.
The 24 hr Emergency Telephone Hotline Number is also engraved on the emblem. This Hotline is linked to a confidential national database. Should additional information be required Emergency First Responders can access this information by telephoning the 24 hr Response Centre.
The Response Centre is attended 24 hrs a day by trained healthcare professionals who receive emergency calls from anywhere in the world.
Membership information stored on the computer database is strictly confidential and released only to authorised medical and emergency personnel. Information includes:
name, address,telephone number
medical conditions, allergies, medication
doctor’s name and telephone number
next of kin’s name and telephone number
any other information which should be known in an emergency
A back-up to the engraved emblem is the personal emergency card printed with information held on your file together with MedicAlert®’s 24hr Emergency Hotline number for emergency personnel to access the confidential database for additional emergency information.
